BANGALORE: The Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, Doddaballapur has said that the complaint of sexual harassment lodged by one of its girl students against a male faculty member was mala fide.
On January 24, a college bus had failed to pick up the girl, following which she and her father had gone to the principal's chamber. Lodging a complaint, the girl told police that a lecturer misbehaved with her and assaulted her father. Following this, the police booked a case against the lecturer, a woman colleague of his and another non-teaching staffer of the college.
In a statement to the Doddaballapur police, college principal R S S Rao has said the original complaint lodged by the girl's father was silent on sexual harassment.
The woman faculty of the college had on January 25 lodged a complaint of misbehaviour against the girl's father. In a retaliatory move, the girl filed the complaint of sexual harassment against the male faculty member and two others, Rao said.
He said the girl's complaint is "an afterthought and well-planned move to ruin the reputation of the institution... We would like to state that there is absolutely no truth and this is a false complaint and we deny the allegations in totality".
