Andhra High Court judge accused of dowry harassment - The Hindu

  CHENNAI, January 23, 2014

A woman filed a complaint with the city police on Wednesday, charging her husband and her father-in-law, a sitting judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, and his family of dowry harassment.

In her complaint submitted to the grievance cell of the commissionerate, Kavya Rao of CIT Nagar in Nandanam said her husband and her father-in-law were demanding Rs. 50 lakh from her as additional dowry. She told reporters that she got married in October 2007 to the judge’s son in a wedding on which her parents had spent Rs. 43 lakh.

 

She now resides in Chennai with her three-year-old daughter and accused the judge and his family of trying to harass her. A city police team is likely to probe the claim, sources said.
