Sex assault case: French official’s wife presses more charges

Bangalore: Suja Jones Mazurier, wife of a French consular official who allegedly raped his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, today filed an application in a court here pressing for charging the accused for committing unnatural offences to the victim.

When the court resumed hearing, Special Public Prosecutor B T Venkatesh pressed for charging Pascal Mazurier, Consular Attache to Consulate General of France, under IPC section 377 (unnatural offences) as there was sufficient evidence to show that the child was also sodomised.

Judge of the Special Court for Child's Rights Shubha Goudar had on February 11 framed charges against Mazurier for allegedly raping his daughter.

The charge was framed under IPC section 376 (punishment for rape).
Goudar directed Mazurier to file objections to the application filed by his wife and posted the matter to 24 February.

The Court had on 7 January refused to discharge Pascal with the Judge ruling that there was sufficient evidence for him to face trial.

The French official had filed an application seeking discharge from the case contending that there was no necessity of a trial since the investigation so far had not proved his involvement in the offence.

The rape case was registered against Pascal based on a complaint filed by his wife, a Keralite, and he was arrested on 19 June, 2012.
